PLANTAS MEDICINAIS UTILIZADAS NO TRATAMENTO DE RINITE ALÉRGICA
A Rinite Alérgica (RA) pode ser definida como uma inflamação ou disfunção da
mucosa nasal que geralmente ocorrem durante dois ou mais dias consecutivos.
Seus sintomas incluem frequentemente: prurido nasal, obstrução da passagem
de ar e corrimento nasal causada por reações mediadas pela imunoglobulina E..
Diante destes fatores, existe grande procura por moléculas bioativas, em
especial com a ajuda das plantas medicinais, para criar um medicamento
fitoterápico que seja eficaz contra a rinite alérgica. O objetivo dessa revisão é
identificar o potencial de plantas medicinais no tratamento da RA. A informações
foram coletadas a partir da data-base da Pubmed, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde e
Scielo, dos anos de 1985 até 2021, incluindo artigos em português e inglês. Foi
encontrado que se pode combater os efeitos da RA através de 4 mecanismos:
supressão da imunoglobulina E; inibição da liberação de histamina; inibição da
liberação de citocinas e supressão da produção de eosinófilos. Várias plantas
medicinais, inclusive brasileiras, têm algum tipo de ação contra a RA seja in vitro
ou in vivo. Esta revisão serve como uma útil fonte de informações acerca do
potencial de plantas medicinais frente a RA.

Abstract:
Allergic Rhinitis (AR) can be defined as an inflammation or dysfunction
of the nasal mucosa that usually occurs for two or more consecutive days. Its
symptoms often include: nasal itching, air passage obstruction, and nasal
discharge caused by immunoglobulin E-mediated reactions. Given these factors,
there is great demand for bioactive molecules, especially with the help of
medicinal plants, to create a phytotherapy drug that is effective against allergic
rhinitis. The purpose of this review is to identify the potential of medicinal plants
in the treatment of AR. The information was collected from the Pubmed,
Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde and Scielo databases from the years from 1985 to
2021, including articles in Portuguese and English. It was found that there are
can 4 mechanisms to combat the effects of AR: suppression of immunoglobulin
E; inhibition of histamine release; inhibition of cytokine release and suppression
of eosinophil production. Several medicinal plants, including Brazilian ones, have
some kind of action against AR either in vitro or in vivo. This review serves as a
useful source of information about the potential of medicinal plants against AR. -
