PLANTAS MEDICINAIS E CULTURA POPULAR: UM OLHAR À LUZ DO USO DE PLANTAS MEDICINAIS EM PORTADORES DE HIPERTENSÃO ARTERIAL A PARTIR DE UMA REVISÃO DA LITERATURA
A fitoterapia e o uso de plantas medicinais fazem parte da prática da medicina popular, constituindo um conjunto de saberes internalizados nos diversos usuários e praticantes, especialmente pela tradição oral. Trata-se de um estudo de natureza descritiva com amparo da pesquisa bibliográfica e recortes da literatura especializada de forma que se possa contextualizar a temática em todas as suas nuances. O estudo versa sobre plantas medicinais e cultura popular, um olhar à luz do uso de plantas medicinais em portadores de hipertensão arterial. O estudo revela que no Brasil, ainda que exista um aumento da importância das plantas medicinal e fitoterápica, não existem estudos suficientes para a comprovação da eficácia e segurança da utilização destas como formas de medicamento, também há o desconhecimento entre os profissionais de saúde quanto a esta possibilidade terapêutica, particularmente em relação à implantação desta terapêutica no SUS, e as plantas continuam a ser utilizadas com base apenas no conhecimento popular.

Abstract:
Phytotherapy and the use of medicinal plants are part of the practice of folk medicine, constituting a set of knowledge internalized in the various users and practitioners, especially through oral tradition. This is a descriptive study supported by bibliographic research and clippings from specialized literature so that the theme can be contextualized in all its nuances. The study deals with medicinal plants and popular culture, a look in the light of the use of medicinal plants in patients with arterial hypertension.The study reveals that in Brazil, although there is an increase in the importance of medicinal and phytotherapic plants, there are not enough studies to prove the efficacy and safety of their use as forms of medicine, there is also a lack of knowledge among health professionals about this therapeutic possibility, particularly in relation to the implementation of this therapy in the SUS, and plants continue to be used based only on popular knowledge.
