Abstract: The forestry sector is one of the most important for the Brazilian economy, with emphasis on eucalyptus cultivation, which occupies the largest planted area. On the other hand, the cultivation of species intended for wood production, with high added value, has increased in the country, as is the case with Khaya ivorensis, popularly known as African mahogany. The cultivation of K. ivorensis in the country is faced with a lack of information about its cultivation, resulting in low productivity and increased production costs. One of the biggest obstacles found in forestry production systems is the competition between tree crops and weeds. Under limited natural resource conditions, competition may occur between plants of the same or different species. The occurrence of weeds in the cultivation of K. ivorensis, as it is little studied, means that the silvicultural practices adopted are similar to those in eucalyptus cultivation, which brings uncertainties from a technical point of view. This review addresses aspects of weed interference and competition with K. ivorensis, in addition to discussing the main weed species in forestry crops.
