PERSPECTIVAS SOBRE A TERAPIA BASEADA EM CÉLULAS TRONCO NO MANEJO DA DOENÇA RENAL CRÔNICA
Pela primeira vez, em 2012, a Doença Renal Crônica (DRC) foi anexada pela Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS) à lista de principais doenças crônicas que ameaçam a saúde pública (Moll et al., 2014). Isto ocorreu devido à elevada taxa de morbidade e mortalidade atreladas à doença, além dos enormes custos para o sistema de cuidados em saúde. Diante disso, esforços vigorosos devem ser executados para contornar esta situação. Através da coleta de informações de diferentes livros, noticiários e artigos de jornais, esse texto explora as razões pelas quais o atual manejo da DRC tem falhado e as futuras perspectivas que a Terapia Baseada em Células-Tronco (TBCT) oferece. Várias pesquisas mostraram que a TBCT pode proporcionar um significativo avanço para a Medicina, mas ainda existem muitas questões em aberto e dificuldades a serem enfrentadas. Entretanto, com os estudos e investimentos apropriados, esse novo progresso pode trazer numerosos benefícios a todos os que sofrem com a DRC.

Abstract:
For the first time, in 2012, Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) was attached by World Health Organisation (WHO) to the list of major chronic diseases that threaten public health. This happened because of the great rate of morbidity and mortality that comes along with this disease, besides the high cost to the health care system (Moll et al., 2014). Regarding this fact, vigorous exertions must be taken to tackle this situation. By collecting information from different books, web news and journal articles, this report explores the reasons why the current management of CKD has failed and the future perspectives that Stem Cell Based Therapy (SCBT) offers. Much research has shown that SCBT can provide a significant goal to Medicine but there are also many opening questions and disadvantages to be faced. However, with appropriate studies and investments, this new development can still bring an array of benefits to everyone who is suffering from CKD.
