• Abstract: This research is the result of the compilation, analysis of various bibliographic sources and field research focused on the peasant activity of small producers who have deep roots in the land and their agricultural practices with artisanal techniques, which have persisted over the years. in different stages and under adverse conditions. Throughout the history of humanity, agricultural practices have been conceived depending on ideological currents where the relationship between the agents and the conditions involved do not always seek the benefit of the farmers. As a consequence, globalization has been the social and economic movement that has most violated the existence of the peasant population with causes of loss of local technical knowledge, migration from the countryside to the cities and the risks of manipulation of agrochemicals, in addition to the pollution problems of agro ecosystems. Finally, in this current situation of farmers, not everything is adversity, there are successful cases and practices that need to be investigated, to be adopted into the general context.
