PERFIL EPIDEMIOLÓGICO E PREVALÊNCIA DOS CASOS DE SÍFILIS E HIV NA REGIÃO SUL DO BRASIL: UMA REVISÃO DA LITERATURA
Dentre as doenças infecciosas prevalentes no mundo estão as Infecções Sexualmente Transmissíveis (IST), que podem ser causadas por vírus, bactérias, fungos e alguns protozoários. Atualmente, trata-se de uma epidemia global. Entre as principais doenças sexualmente transmissíveis destacam-se a Sífilis e o HIV (vírus da imunodeficiência adquirida humana). Dada a importância dessas doenças para a saúde pública, o presente estudo objetivou conhecer o perfil epidemiológico e a prevalência dessas infecções na região Sul do Brasil por meio de revisão da literatura científica, tendo como pergunta norteadora: Qual a prevalência e o perfil epidemiológico de HIV e sífilis na região Sul do Brasil? Os principais temas identificados nos artigos estavam relacionados ao perfil e prevalência de HIV e sífilis em gestantes. Todos os artigos sobre sífilis analisados encontraram resultados similares, destacando que a prevalência da doença está relacionada a população mais jovem, com baixa escolaridade, baixa renda familiar, profissão do lar, mulheres com mais de um filho e com histórico de aborto, raça ou cor branca. Quanto ao HIV, os estudos demonstraram que sua prevalência se concentra em indivíduos jovens, de baixa ou média escolaridade e baixa renda familiar, e associa-se ao uso de drogas ilícitas. Diante dos resultados obtidos neste estudo, faz-se necessário atentar para as medidas de prevenção e controle de HIV e sífilis. Sugere-se novos estudos e incentivo a pesquisas a respeito de HIV e sífilis para que se conheça o cenário atual e a tendência dessas doenças na região Sul do país, possibilitando o planejamento de estratégias de prevenção e tratamento.

Abstract:
Among the prevalent infectious diseases in the world are Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), which can be caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi and some protozoa. It is currently a global epidemic. Among the main sexually transmitted diseases are syphilis and HIV (human acquired immunodeficiency virus). Given the importance of these diseases for public health, the present study aimed to know the epidemiological profile and the prevalence of these infections in the southern region of Brazil through a review of the scientific literature, with the guiding question: What is the prevalence and epidemiological profile of HIV and syphilis in southern Brazil? The main themes identified in the articles were related to the profile and prevalence of HIV and syphilis in pregnant women. All the syphilis articles analyzed found similar results, highlighting that the prevalence of the disease is related to a younger population, with low education, low family income, home profession, women with more than one child and with a history of abortion, white race/color. For HIV, studies have shown that its prevalence is concentrated in young individuals, with low or medium education and low family income, and is associated with the use of illicit drugs. In view of the results obtained in this study, it is necessary to pay attention to measures for the prevention and control of HIV and syphilis. It is suggested that further studies and research be carried out on HIV and syphilis so that the current scenario and the trend of these diseases in the South of the country are known, enabling the planning of prevention and treatment strategies.
