Abstract: This study aimed to characterize the profile of sheep and goat producers in the Vale do Sambito territory, as well as to verify the use of management tools in these activities. The research population consisted of farms engaged in sheep and goat production, located in the municipality of Valença and neighboring towns that are part of the territory. Structured questionnaires, with objective and multiple-choice questions, were applied to rural producers. Based on the responses, a qualitative and quantitative survey was conducted regarding producers’ profiles and the management practices adopted in animal rearing. A total of 14 responses were collected, recorded in spreadsheets, and subjected to analysis and interpretation. The results indicate that sheep and goat farming in the region is mainly carried out by middle-aged men, on small properties, and with family labor. Sheep production was found to be more prevalent than goat production. The most common sheep breeds were Santa Inês, SPRD (no defined breed standard), and Dorper, while the most frequent goat breeds were SPRD, Boer, and Anglo-Nubian. It was also observed that administrative tools are still rarely used on farms, and the main challenges reported by producers include limited space, scarce investment resources, and insufficient specialized technical guidance.
