PERFIL DA ATIVIDADE PISCÍCOLA EM ARIQUEMES, RONDÔNIA
Um dos principais desafios atuais enfrentado no mundo é a produção de alimentos de forma suficiente e sustentável para atender à crescente demanda, bem como, produzir alimentos seguros. Nesse cenário, destaca-se o crescimento da atividade piscícola no Brasil, principalmente de espécies adaptadas ao clima tropical, como o tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum). O presente estudo teve como objetivo traçar um panorama da produção piscícola no município de Ariquemes, Rondônia, por meio da avaliação de 20 pisciculturas. Os resultados da pesquisa mostraram que a piscicultura em viveiros é uma atividade econômica viável, entretanto, existem alguns entraves que, por vezes, dificultam o aumento da produção, destacando-se o alto preço das rações, a falta de treinamento dos piscicultores e as poucas políticas públicas de incentivo à atividade. Entretanto, 60% dos produtores relataram estar dispostos a expandir o negócio. Por outro lado, os poucos incentivos governamentais, o alto custo de insumos e o baixo preço encontrado na venda da produção, uma vez que há apenas um frigorífico na região, portanto, sem opção de melhora deste valor de venda a curto prazo desestimulam os 40% dos que não pretendem expandir na atividade aquícola. Estas variáveis, se melhoradas, poderão ajudar na expansão do setor, que se demonstra bastante propício para região.

Abstract:
One of the main current challenges faced in the world is the production of food in a sufficient and sustainable way to meet the growing demand, as well as, to produce food safety. In this scenario, the growth of fish activity in Brazil stands out, mainly of species adapted to the tropical climate, such as tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum). The present study aimed to outline an overview of fish production in the municipality of Ariquemes, Rondônia, through the assessment of 20 fish farms. The research results showed that fish farming in earth tanks is a viable economic activity. However, there are some obstacles that sometimes hinder the increase in production, highlighting the elevate price of feed, the lack of training for fish farmers and the few public policies to encourage farmers to get in the fish production. However, 60% of producers reported that they were willing to expand the business. On the other hand, the few government incentives, the high cost of inputs and the low price found in the sale of production, since there is only one slaughterhouse in the region, without option to improve this sales value in the short term, discourage 40 % of those who do not intend to expand in aquaculture. These variables, if improved, may help in the expansion of the sector, which proves to be quite favorable for the region.
