Abstract: Basic education in Brazil is a right guaranteed by the State, and the public school system serves a large part of the population. However, challenges persist, such as school violence and inefficient resource management, impacting student performance. In this context, the militarization of school management has emerged as an alternative to reinforce discipline and security, with expectations of improving educational quality. This case study in a militarized school in the State of Amazonas analyzed the school community's perception of this management style and its impacts on educational dynamics. The results indicate that respondents observed positive impacts, especially in discipline, security, and academic performance. Despite the perceived benefits, the militarized model generates criticism regarding its disciplinary and hierarchical rigidity, which can limit students' creativity and pedagogical autonomy. Furthermore, legal and administrative challenges related to funding and compliance with current educational regulations remain under debate. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the militarization of public schools in Brazil, bringing perspectives from the school community and highlighting the challenges and possibilities of this approach in educational management.
