Abstract: The Brazilian Health Reform denounced health inequalities and defended universal access, promoting structural changes. The nursing followed this process, evolving from a non-stadardizend role to a central position in public health. Objective: identify perceptions regarding nursing and the Brazilian Health Reform. Methodology: this was a descriptive bibliographic research, based on materials published between 2019 and 2025. An online search was conducted in the Virtual Health Library databases. A total of 12 publications were selected, all of which addressed the study’s theme, were available in full, and written in portuguese. Results: since the Parsons Mission, nursing in Brazil has been restructured with a focus on education, qualification, and technical advancement, assuming a central role in public health. The Brazilian Health Reform, strengthened after the military dictatorship and driven by the 8th National Health Conference, advocated for the universal right to health and promoted structural changes in the system. Despite progress, challenges remain, such as underfunding and the risk of privatization. Movements like the Frente pela Vida reinforce the importance of social participation and the ongoing defense of the reform’s principles. Final considerations: the study reinforces the strategic role of nursing in defending the SUS (Unified Health System) and participation in social movements to uphold the principles of the Health reform.
