Abstract: For the past few decades, climate change has served as the main threat facing humans. It currently significantly affects agricultural production, having direct repercussions on soil health, water shortages, an increase in pests and diseases, as well as social and economic effects. These changes are clearly perceived by humans and drastically affect food production, modify prices, and ultimately, our food security. This paper conducted a bibliographic analysis of previous studies in Mexico, with the aim of identifying social perceptions and strategies for adaptation and mitigation to climate change that affect different farming systems that contribute to food security in Mexico. Through a bibliographic, theoretical, and qualitative review, 21 scientific papers conducted and published in the last 10 years in the country were analyzed. The review was exploratory, descriptive, and qualitative in scope. The review shows that farmers identify and perceive anomalies regarding variability in the distribution, intensity, and duration of temperature and precipitation, affecting the yield and agricultural productivity of their crops. Consequently, the strategies they have implemented are productive, social, and economic. It is concluded that adaptation strategies generate adaptability and resilience to climate change with the goal of ensuring food production.
