Abstract: This work proposes an approach to the religious and cultural organization of the Mancanhe ethnic group in Guinea-Bissau. The proposal of the work is to contextualize what the process of organizing the religious ritual called “penalty”, linked to the world of the living and the dead, would be like, based on the principles tha govern the the essential religious values of the aforementioned ethnic group, based on their custos, rituals and tradition. In this sense, the aforementioned ethnic group believes in the ritual of their ancestors, which is very fundamental in the tradition, the ritual symbols and magical gestores that include the ethical principles, moral and cultural values that the ethnic group itself mkes as a way of fulfilling the ritual to the ancestors. To this end the work aimed to understand problematize the pena ritual and the relationship between the world of the living and the dead from Mancanhe ethinic group. And the methodology used was a qualitative approach using the Google Scholar platform.
