Abstract: This article discusses the application of hotfix rhinestones in eveningwear, examining how this technique transforms the textile surface and generates aesthetic and symbolic meanings. From the perspective of surface design, the surface is understood to function both as a perceptual interface and as an expressive space in which materiality, visual language, and cultural codes are articulated. The study draws on theoretical contributions from craft, contemporary design, and ornamentation, highlighting how manual practices remain relevant even as technological resources are incorporated. The findings indicate that hotfix operates as a hybrid technique situated between the artisanal gesture and industrial processes, mobilizing manual knowledge, material sensitivity, and thermal fixing technologies. Within the context of evening fashion, the ornamented surface gains prominence by communicating presence, brightness, and identity, becoming a defining element in the construction of festive attire. The article argues that hotfix surpasses the role of mere finishing to constitute an aesthetic language and a design device capable of reorganizing the fabric’s surface. It concludes that this perspective broadens creative possibilities in fashion design, reinforcing the importance of finishing techniques as a field of innovation and as an expressive component in the construction of contemporary apparel.
