PATRIMÔNIO CULTURAL E A HISTÓRIA LOCAL: UMA PESQUISA DO PROFHISTÓRIA NA EDUCAÇÃO BÁSICA
Este artigo trata de uma pesquisa
acerca da História local e patrimônio cultural
no ensino de História. A metodologia adotada
consistiu em aplicação de questionário com um
total de 55 alunos de duas escolas localizadas no
município do Crato. As respostas dos discentes
forneceram pontos de partida para pensarmos
sobre questões relativas ao ensino de História
e da educação patrimonial. Entre outras, foram
propostas as seguintes indagações: na escola
você já estudou sobre patrimônio cultural? A
História do seu município é tratada nas aulas?
O que você sabe sobre o Beato José Lourenço
e o Caldeirão da Santa Cruz do Deserto?
Foi solicitado que dessem exemplos do que
entendiam sobre patrimônio cultural; que bens
elegeriam como dignos de serem legados às
próximas gerações; e que narrassem o que
sabiam sobre a História do município onde
moram, o Beato e o Caldeirão. Os dados foram
tabelados em gráficos e quadros, destacando
os aspectos quantitativos e qualitativos. As
análises nos possibilitaram observar que apesar
das dificuldades narradas pelos docentes, que
se ressentem da escassez de materiais para
lidar com a História local, esses temas são em
boa medida, trabalhados em sala de aula, no
entanto, não são percebidos pelos alunos como
parte da História do seu município. Da Escola
João Leandro Correia, do total de 23 alunos,
87% declararam que já estudaram sobre a
comunidade do Caldeirão; 82% conseguiram
escrever sobre a comunidade; 61% citaram
algo sobre o Beato; 70% disseram, porém não
conhecer a História do município do Crato.
Na Escola Estado da Paraíba, de 32 alunos,
53% declararam já ter estudado o Caldeirão e
escreveram sobre o tema, e 38%, sobre o Beato.
Mas, 81% declararam não conhecer a História
do município, ficando a indagação sobre o
que seria na compreensão dos estudantes, a
História do lugar onde residem.

Abstract:
This article reports a study on local history and cultural heritage in the
context of History teaching. The method consisted of applying a questionnaire to a
total of 55 students from two schools located in the town of Crato, state of Ceará,
Brazil. The students’ answers prompted a reflection about relevant issues concerning
history teaching and heritage education. These were some of the questions from the
questionnaire: have you ever studied cultural heritage at school? Is the history of your
home town addressed in class? What do you know about Beato José Lourenço and
Caldeirão da Santa Cruz do Deserto? The respondents were asked to give examples
of what they knew about cultural heritage, and what assets they would choose as
worthy to bequeath to the next generations. They were also asked to report what they
knew about the history of Crato, Beato, and Caldeirão. The data were tabulated in
graphs and charts, with an emphasis on both quantitative and qualitative aspects. The
analyses showed that despite the difficulties reported by the teachers, who complain
about the scarcity of materials to teach the local history, these themes are, to a certain
extent, addressed in the classroom. However, they are not perceived by the students
as part of the history of their home town. At João Leandro Correia School, 87% of the
23 respondents stated that they had already studied about the community of Caldeirão
and 82% had written about it; 61% mentioned some facts about Beato José Lourenço;
70% of them, however, said that they did not know the history of the town of Crato.
At Estado da Paraíba School, 53% and 38% of the 32 responding students said they
had already studied and written about the subjects of Cauldeirão and Beato José
Lourenço, respectively. However, 81% said that they did not know the history of the
town. Therefore, one may wonder how those students perceived the history of the
place where they live.
