Abstract: Since they know each other and investigate past histories, societies shape ways of validating behaviors and organizing feats of the movement of life. The purpose of this text is to explore the concept of patriarchy, its ideas and impacts that sustain, shape and strengthen it, in order to examine the structures that perpetuate and feed gender inequality in today's society, whose roots are planted in the past, however, are fed and strengthened by capitalism. From a literature review, it is clear that women are historically subject to daily violations and oppression, driven by inequality and lack of access, as well as the ones who experience the deeds of this society structured by sexist and exclusionary bases. Therefore, it is essential that we combat the oppression and exploitation of women, as a profound transformation in our culture is urgent. For this, it is necessary to be clear that what is behind the definition of social roles are cultural remnants that have their roots in patriarchy and that are reinforced and sustained by the capitalist mode of production.
