Abstract: Tablets are solid, flexible and soft pharmaceutical forms developed based on polymers that can be sweetened and flavored to convey active ingredients. They are used for dissolution or slow disintegration in the mouth. Nicotine can be used in different pharmaceutical forms in replacement therapy, aiming to reduce withdrawal symptoms associated with smoking cessation. The objective of this study was to develop nicotine-added lozenges. Lozenges were developed with nicotine, high molecular weight polyethylene glycol, sorbitol, sodium bicarbonate, mint flavoring and coloring. The samples were subjected to physical-chemical characterization tests. According to the results, the nicotine lozenges met the criteria established for organoleptic properties, average weight, disintegration, texture and pH. New studies should be suggested to evaluate the physical-chemical, microbiological quality and stability of the final product.
