Abstract: ABSTRACT: The presence of black travelers in relation to whites is discrepant in tourist spaces. Understanding how problematic is the invisibility of black people in tourism as consumers and the reasons for this to occur, are the objectives of this study. Relating tourism and how much the entire historical context of blacks in Brazil fall negatively in all instances of their lives, this research aims to verify the racism existing in the tourist activity, as well as to identify the determinants that make this public not have the same access to travel as the white population. The methodology is based on qualitative research of exploratory character. Preliminary survey data demonstrate that the shortage of black travelers is due to lack of financial resources, violence, lack of safety during travel, racial discrimination, and lack of time. It is understood that racism and socioeconomic inequality that black people experience prevent them from knowing and experiencing new experiences, and this needs to be changed urgently. In this way, it is essential that studies in the field of tourism be carried out in order to understand this profile of tourists and, thus, create tourism products that ensure a trip in which the Afro-descendant tourist does not experience situations of racism in their travels.
