Abstract: Raising dairy heifers capable of reaching their genetic potential for milk production requires excellent health, coupled with good growth rates, in order to reach the right weight and age for first service and calving. Future heifers must be robust enough to thrive in the herd during their first lactation. The study evaluated the oral supplementation of lactating dairy heifers with antioxidants. The study used 20 lactating heifers of the Holstein breed, divided into two groups: supplementation based on antioxidants in the form of a paste and administered orally, while the untreated group received the base paste without the inclusion of active ingredients. The experimental period was 56 days, with weekly supplementation. Evaluations were carried out on the animal's growth parameters, including body measurements. The hypothesis of the study was to verify the benefits of antioxidant supplementation for suckling heifers, helping animal growth or performance. There was an interaction between time and the treatments evaluated for thoracic perimeter and belly circumference, body length and croup width. At 56 days, supplementation had a positive influence on measurements of thoracic perimeter, body length and croup width. It was concluded that the use of an oral formulation containing antioxidants during the rearing phase of suckling calves has a positive influence on growth.
