Abstract: Enlarged lymph nodes are common complaints in pediatric emergency departments. The main clinical manifestations of paracoccidioidomycosis in children and adolescents result from the infectious and inflammatory process involving mainly lymph nodes. The disease is caused by the fungi Paracoccidioides brasiliensis and Paracoccidioides lutzii, it is a little publicized disease, which in many cases leads to delay in diagnosis and inadequate management of existing cases. The management of children with the severe form of the disease should be initially treated with amphotericin B. With a vast clinical picture, and the possibility of high recurrences, it is emphasized the need for longitudinal follow-up of the identified pediatric cases, and in case of persistence, the investigation of primary immunodeficiency. The aim of this study was to describe a case of paracoccidioidomycosis in pediatrics in a city in the interior of the state of São Paulo.
