Papa Pio XII e a Segunda Guerra Mundial
Este artigo tem por intuito discutir, com base no contexto histórico, os
sentidos das ações de Eugenio Maria Giuseppe Pacelli, personagem que exerceu o
papado como Pio XII. Durante os anos de 1939 até 1945, a sociedade enfrentou um
grande desafio e que ainda se faz presente em nossas memórias e reflexões, que
fora a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Esses eventos foram gestados em meio à sociedade
alemã, que passava por uma crise social, na qual emergiu desde a Escola de
Frankfurt com um dos grandes centros do pensamento ocidental da época até o
totalitarismo nazi- fascista de Adolf Hitler. Neste quadro ocorreu a ascensão da União
Soviética, vista como ameaça vermelha. Neste cenário, o Papa Pio XII entra para a
História como figura ambígua, visto por uns como o Papa de Hitler, e por outros como
o papa que abrigou e salvou milhares de judeus.

Abstract:
This article intends to discuss, based on the historical context, the
meanings of the actions of Eugenio Maria Giuseppe Pacelli, a person who exercised
the papacy as Pius XII. During the years 1939 to 1945, the society faced a great
challenge and that still is present in our memories and reflections, that was World
War II. These events were conceived in the midst of German society, which was
experiencing a social crisis, in which it emerged from the Frankfurt School with one
of the great centers of Western thought of the time to the Nazi-fascist totalitarianism
of Adolf Hitler. In this picture occurred the rise of the Soviet Union, seen as a red
threat. In this scenario, Pope Pius XII enters into history as an ambiguous figure, seen
by some as the Pope of Hitler, and by others as the pope who sheltered and saved
thousands of Jews.
