Abstract: Chemistry is a science dealing with phenomena that occur far beyond human perception, often requiring abstract reasoning to understand them. The conceptual topics and the didactic and/or pedagogical strategies covered in high school are not always sufficient to instigate students' curiosity and interest towards scientific and technological fields. The Lecture: “How does a Forensic Laboratory work?” takes this into account by promoting a debate about different areas like forensic laboratories, forensic chemistry, official forensic expertise, professionals of the sector, the duties and daily life of a criminal expert. The main goal was to assist students with their graduate training choices at the end of high school. To achieve this, a Criminal Expert presented the lecture, describing some real life situations, plus the techniques and equipment applied in the different areas of a forensic laboratory, all of which lead the audience to ask many questions on the subject.
