Abstract: In the second edition of Lirismo Rural: o Sereno do Cerrado (2019), brazilian poet Gilberto Mendonça Teles employs elements of modern lyrical poetry in his work, while also highlighting his native landscape, the Cerrado. The Cerrado landscape, a central element in the poems, aligns with the intimate and collective memory of the people of this biome. In this research, the theme of the Cerrado is approached from the phenomenological perspective of Gaston Bachelard and by the Philosophy of Landscape by Michael Collot, who suggests that the landscape can be perceived as a synthesis between the external world and the inner emotions of the subject. Just like objects, the natural elements present in the poems — birds and flowers — are analyzed for their contributions to the construction of the sensitive and imagistic world of the lyrical self. The relationship between nature and culture is exploited, emphasizing how the poet uses creative writing to attribute deep meanings to objects, thereby influencing the reader's perception.
