O metilfenidato é indicado para o

tratamento do Transtorno de Déficit de Atenção

e Hiperatividade (TDAH). O fármaco atua no

Sistema Nervoso Central, inibindo a receptação

de dopamina e noradrenalina dos terminais

sinápticos, e por essa ação vem sendo utilizado

por indivíduos saudáveis para aprimoramento

cognitivo. Como alguns trabalhos e os relatórios

emitidos pela Agência Nacional de Vigilância

Sanitária (ANVISA) têm apontado o aumento das

vendas e consumo do metilfenidato é de grande

importância um melhor entendimento sobre o

crescente consumo desse fármaco como agente

estimulante da atividade cognitiva. O estudo

foi realizado por aplicação de questionário

com perguntas que abordaram o uso e o

conhecimento do fármaco, e entendimento

dos alunos em relação ao TDAH. A análise dos

dados coletados mostrou que, de um total de

205 entrevistados, 15,60% (n=32) relataram uso

do Metilfenidato em algum momento e apenas

15,62% (n=5) destes o usaram por prescrição

médica. Fica evidente o consumo não prescrito

do medicamento e a importância de uma ação

das autoridades sanitárias e da orientação do

farmacêutica a fim de impedir o uso indevido e

indiscriminado.

Abstract:
Methylphenidate is indicated

for the treatment of Attention Deficit Disorder

Association (ADDA). The drug acts in the

Central Nervous System, inhibiting the reception

of dopamine and noradrenaline by the synaptic

terminals, and because of this, it has been used

by healthy individuals for cognitive improvement.

Since some papers and reports issued by

ANVISA have pointed out the increase in sales

and consumption of methylphenidate, it is of

great importance a better understanding of the increasing consumption of this drug as

a stimulant of cognitive activity. The study was conducted by applying a questionnaire

with questions addressing the use and knowledge of the drug, and the students’

understanding of ADHD. The analysis of the data collected showed that, out of a total

of 205 interviewees, 15.60% (n = 32) reported using methylphenidate at some point

and only 15.62% (n = 5) of them used it as result of medical prescription. Therefore, tt

is evident the non-prescribed consumption of the drug and the importance of action by

health authorities and the guidance of the pharmacist in order to prevent inappropriate

and indiscriminate use.
