Abstract: Facial fractures that affect the mandible and maxilla are common in cats and may result from trauma from being run over, falling, kicking or inadequate restraint. In felines, disjunction of the mental symphysis and the midline of the hard palate are the most common cases. The clinical signs presented are characteristic and include the presence of instability in the region, crepitus, pain on handling, excessive salivation with or without the presence of blood, reluctance to eat, progressive weight loss, apathy, among others. However, to confirm the presumptive diagnosis, radiography of the animal's skull is extremely important, as it allows the visualization and correct location of the course of the lesion. The treatment options available for the correction of the disjunction of the mandibular and maxillary symphysis can be conservative or surgical and are intended to provide a return to function and restoration of dental occlusion through rigid fixation with minimal complications. In order to choose the ideal method, the professional must assess the clinical condition of each patient, have adequate anatomical knowledge of the region, as well as its bioanatomical characteristics in order to correctly apply and execute the recommended techniques. In cases where the method of choice was surgical treatment, the postoperative period requires some intensive care during the first weeks after the procedure is performed in order to avoid possible bacterial infections and damage to the operated area. In addition, radiographic follow-up to assess bone healing is essential for a positive outcome. The objective of the present work is to report a case of a feline, diagnosed with disjunction of the mandibular symphysis and the maxillary interincisive symphysis, which was referred for care at a Veterinary Center located in the city of Garanhuns, in the State of Pernambuco and the therapy instituted for the wound healing.
