Abstract: Extraosseous osteosarcoma is a rare mesenchymal neoplasm that primarily affects visceral organs or soft tissues and is characterized by the formation of osteoid tissue in the absence of bone or periosteal involvement. Accordingly, the present report aimed to describe a case of extraosseous osteosarcoma in a dog. A nine-year-old female Boxer was presented with a two-month history of weight loss, followed by apathy, hyporexia, and vomiting. Physical examination revealed pale mucous membranes, poor body condition, and a palpable abdominal mass in the epigastric region. No evident neoplastic lesions were identified in the appendicular or axial skeleton. Hematology and serum biochemistry showed no significant abnormalities. Abdominal imaging demonstrated an intra-abdominal mass, although the exact site of origin could not be determined. The animal underwent an exploratory laparotomy and, due to the extensive neoplastic infiltration, euthanasia was performed with the owner’s authorization. Tumor samples were collected for histopathological analysis, which revealed a productive osteoblastic osteosarcoma of intra-abdominal, extraosseous origin. This case highlights the importance of including osteosarcoma as a differential diagnosis for soft tissue neoplasms in dogs, particularly when they exhibit infiltrative behavior and osteoid matrix production.
