OS SENTIDOS DOS MUROS E AS ESTRATÉGIAS DE DISTINÇÃO SOCIAL: RESIDENCIAIS FECHADOS EM CIDADES NÃO METROPOLITANAS
Considerando as motivações que
levaram os sujeitos sociais a optarem por
morar em residenciais fechados, objetivamos
identificar os sentidos que os muros e
outros elementos internos adquirem para os
moradores desses espaços, adotando como
recorte espacial as cidades de Catanduva e
São José do Rio Preto (SP). Tendo o cotidiano,
unidade de espaço e tempo, enquanto escala
de análise, consideramos que os muros
exercem tanto um papel de barreira material,
quanto de limite simbólico, que influenciam
nas práticas dos moradores e na elaboração
das subjetividades espaciais, ao valorizarem
elementos internos desses espaços em suas
narrativas, integrando um “novo estilo de vida”,
no qual, a segurança e o controle estão entre
os aspectos representados mais positivamente,
embora, de forma subliminar, o que se busca
são diferentes estratégias de distinção social.

Abstract:
Considering the motivations that
led the social subjects to choose to live in closed
residential, aimed to identify the meanings that
the walls and other internal elements acquire for
the residents of these areas, adopting spatial
area as the cities of Catanduva and São José
do Rio Preto (SP). Having daily, unit of space
and time, while scale analysis, we consider that
the walls exert both a paper barrier material, the
symbolic threshold, influencing the practices of
the residents and the development of spatial
subjectivities, valuing the internal elements of
these spaces in their narratives, integrating a
“new lifestyle” in which, security and control are
among the issues represented more positively,
though, in a subliminal way, what is sought are
different strategies of social distinction.
