Abstract: This article addresses the problem related to the female dress code, adopted for airline companies, and its transformations over the years together with the influence of fashion. The purpose of this work is to write about the change in the standardization of flight attendants' self-image, self-esteem, appearance and dress code based on these professional’s body movements inside an aircraft. The methodology used is qualitative and exploratory, adopting investigation and bibliographic review procedures. This profession requires different types of physical and mental efforts, considering the flight attendants’ responsibilities and multiplicity of tasks; it is so clearly unfair to externalize these professionals’ image without considering their activities inside an aircraft. Therefore, it is concluded that being well dressed increases self-esteem, but, at the same time, having freedom of body movements alleviates self-image. In this regard, airlines are becoming aware of the functionality of the flight attendants’ dress code without compromising on elegance.
