Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic, which began in Brazil in March 2020, has had a profound impact on public safety, especially in the state of Pará, where socioeconomic inequalities and the fragility of public services have worsened the crisis. This qualitative and documentary study analyzes the effects of the pandemic on the Pará Military Police (PMPA) and criminal dynamics, highlighting challenges such as institutional overload, illness and death of professionals, and the reconfiguration of crime patterns. Using secondary sources (institutional reports, epidemiological data, and scientific articles), the research highlights the PMPA's adaptation through biosafety protocols, redistribution of resources, and psychosocial support actions. In addition, it points to the underreporting of domestic crimes and the reduction of Intentional Lethal Violent Crimes (CVLI) during social isolation. It is concluded that the pandemic experience reinforces the need to strengthen public safety policies, with an emphasis on occupational health, crisis management and inter-institutional integration, aiming at preparing for future emergencies.
