As plantas medicinais são usadas pela humanidade há milênios em diferentes culturas do mundo. No Brasil, a prática é aprovada pela ANVISA e adotada pelo SUS. O objetivo foi reunir e analisar dados referentes à fitoterapia popular e às instituições que promovem hortos de plantas medicinais, a contribuir para a discussão do tema. Cabe aos municípios o crescimento das plantas medicinais, necessitando de mais políticas públicas promovendo ações para o desenvolvimento do setor, em especial beneficiando a agricultura familiar. Conclui-se que as instituições realizam parcerias para viabilizar a implantação e manutenção destes hortos, tornando as equipes interdisciplinares, e que as instituições de ATER e as pastorais da saúde se destacam a fomentarem o cultivo e uso adequado das plantas medicinais.

  • Abstract: Medicinal plants have been used by humanity for millennia in different cultures around the world. In Brazil, the practice is approved by ANVISA and adopted by SUS. The aim was to gather and analyze data on popular phytotherapy and the institutions that promote medicinal plant gardens, in order to contribute to the discussion on the subject. Municipalities are responsible for the growth of medicinal plants, and more public policies are needed to promote actions for the development of the sector, especially benefiting family farming. It can be concluded that the institutions work in partnership to make it possible to set up and maintain these gardens, making the teams interdisciplinary, and that the ATER institutions and health pastoralists stand out in promoting the cultivation and proper use of medicinal plants.
