Abstract: Neurochemical processes underlying human well-being have been increasingly investigated within contemporary neuroscience. The substances commonly referred to as “happiness hormones”—namely serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, and endorphins—play a critical role in modulating mood, behavior, and physiological homeostasis. This study aims to provide an integrative analysis of these neurotransmitters and neuropeptides, emphasizing their biological functions, mechanisms of action, and their impact on mental and physical health. This research adopts a qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive design based on a narrative literature review of peer-reviewed studies in neuroscience, psychology, and public health. The findings indicate that the regulation of these neurochemical mediators is strongly influenced by biopsychosocial factors, including lifestyle habits, environmental exposure, and interpersonal relationships. The study concludes that maintaining neurochemical balance constitutes a fundamental strategy for promoting quality of life and preventing mental health disorders. Furthermore, it highlights the importance of interdisciplinary approaches and public health policies aimed at fostering emotional well-being.
