OS EVANGÉLICOS E A POLÍTICA: condicionantes e lógicas do engajamento político de lideranças pentecostais da Igreja Assembleia de Deus em Imperatriz-MA
O objetivo deste trabalho é explorar as intersecções entre o universo evangélico e a política no Brasil contemporâneo através da exploração das lógicas coletivas e individuais de engajamento político de lideranças da Igreja Evangélica Assembleia de Deus (IEADI) na cidade de Imperatriz, Maranhão. Resultante de uma pesquisa de mestrado concluída recentemente que recorreu a estratégias metodológicas variadas, tais como: observação direta, entrevistas e exploração de arquivos e publicações institucionais, tentamos no presente texto levantar algumas questões pertinentes para a compreensão das modalidades, processos e condicionantes do engajamento simultaneamente político e religioso desses agentes, tomando como laboratório um contexto mais local e específico e os itinerários de agentes que se notabilizaram pelos seus investimentos nos espaços e instâncias convencionais da política no contexto em pauta. As conclusões apontam para um reforço da tendência geral de incremento da penetração do segmento evangélico em partidos e eleições caracterizada pelo importante peso de mecanismos de controle, filtragem e reforço da ordem institucional.

Abstract:
The objective of this work is to explore the intersections between the evangelical universe and politics in contemporary Brazil through the exploration of the collective and individual logics of political engagement of leaders of the Evangelical Assembleia de Deus Church (IEADI) in the city of Imperatriz, Maranhão. Resulting from a recently completed master's research that resorted to various methodological strategies, such as: direct observation, interviews and exploration of institutional archives and publications, in this text we try to raise some pertinent questions for the understanding of the modalities, processes and conditions of engagement simultaneously political and religious of these agents, taking as a laboratory a more local and specific context and the itineraries of agents who have become notable for their investments in conventional spaces and instances of politics in the context in question. The conclusions point to a reinforcement of the general trend of increasing penetration of the evangelical segment in parties and elections characterized by the important weight of mechanisms of control, filtering and reinforcement of the institutional order.
