OS DIVERSOS CERCOS DA METAFICÇÃO NA OBRA HISTÓRIA DO CERCO DE LISBOA DE JOSÉ SARAMAGO

História do Cerco de Lisboa é um romance do escritor português José Saramago, que não se apresenta como um romance histórico como pode sugerir o título, mas como metaficção históriografica, onde a ficção contida dentro da ficção, isto é, a outra história contada por Raimundo Silva, se sobressai em relação à primeira. Neste artigo, analisamos a obra proposta partindo de uma base teórica sobre a metaficção descrita por Linda Hutcheon e Patrícia Waugh para apontarmos algumas estratégias metaficcionais utilizadas por José Saramago ao escrever História do Cerco de Lisboa, entre estas a ironia, a intertextualidade e a intratextualidade.

  • Abstract: The History of the Siege of Lisbon is a novel by the Portuguese writer José Saramago, which is not presented as a historical novel as the title might suggest, but as a historiographic metafiction, where the fiction contained within the fiction, that is, the other story told by Raimundo Silva, stands out in relation to the first. In this article, we analyze the proposed work based on a theoretical basis on metafiction described by Linda Hutcheon and Patricia Waugh to point out some metafictional strategies used by José Saramago when writing The History of the Siege of Lisbon, among them irony, intertextuality and intratextuality.
