  • Keywords: With the advent of the pandemic motivated by the new human coronavirus, the world is going through a challenging time, especially in public and collective health practices in the adoption and implementation of measures to combat this infectious agent. This work aims to present and discuss the challenges for the Material and Sterization Center (CME) in the processing of healthcare products used in the care of patients with Covid-19. This is a bibliographic research carried out in electronic databases and books, it was divided into three stages, with the search for publications with information relevant to the topic in question. We used descriptors CME, Coronavirus and Nursing. The results found present that health professionals are in danger due to the pandemic, especially those who work at the CME, because the reality of physical infrastructure is insufficient, lack of equipment, increased workload, undervaluation of work, emotional stress and lack of professional training are worrisome. It is concluded that the CME is a promising field, it covering possibilities that were unknown until recently, and that the nursing professional at this unit faced major challenges in daily practice in coping with Covid-19, for this reason this sector is essential in the construction of quality management tools and safe techniques that promote improvement in the processing of health products, aims to build expanded scientific knowledge, so that in other critical events of public and collective health they can serve as a basis for future generations.
