Abstract: This literature review addresses the challenges of Industrial Solid Waste (ISW) management in the midst of climate change, with a focus on the state of Rio Grande do Sul. In 2021, IWR accounted for 4% of greenhouse gas emissions in the state, highlighting the urgency of rethinking strategies in line with SDG 13. The review reveals the complexity of IWR management and its relevance to promoting waste reduction, reuse and recycling, as well as adopting advanced treatment technologies. The results have significant implications for public policies and business practices aimed at protecting the environment and public health, and that these are key to promoting a more sustainable and climate change-resistant future.
