Abstract: This article analyzes the benefits, challenges, and risks associated with Mozambique's potential accession to the BRICS economic bloc, formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The research adopts a qualitative approach, based on the analysis of documents and academic literature, considering academic sources, official reports, and studies. The results reveal that integration with the BRICS offers significant economic opportunities, such as access to strategic investments, expanded exports, and a stronger position in global trade. However, membership also entails political and institutional challenges, notably the need to maintain autonomy in foreign policy, strengthen governance, and avoid excessive dependence on commodity resources. Social and geopolitical risks remain equally relevant, highlighting the importance of adequate strategic planning and mitigating policies. The study concludes that BRICS membership will be truly beneficial only if accompanied by strategies for economic diversification, institutional strengthening, and balanced diplomacy, thus converting this opportunity into a sustainable development path for Mozambique.
