OPCIONES DE MANEJO PARA LA CONSERVACIÓN Y EL MEJORAMIENTO DE SUELOS EN LOS AGROECOSISTEMAS
Los agroecosistemas requieren mantener una salud adecuada para cumplir su función definida por el agricultor. El enfoque del manejo bajo el cual se estructuran define en gran medida la calidad de sus recursos naturales. Desde los inicios de la agricultura los manejadores han usado estrategias para la protección de los recursos, sin embargo, la presión de uso de suelo y el uso de las tecnologías modernas los impactos ambientales han sido sistemáticamente alarmantes. Los suelos agrícolas constituyen uno de los recursos naturales más afectados por las actividades agrícolas. El manejo bajo principios de agricultura tecnificada ha acelerado su degradación, originando en muchos de ellos fenómenos irreversibles. Las estrategias para la conservación y mejoramiento se han fundamentado en la utilización de tecnologías específicas definidas con un enfoque descendente, en donde la participación de los agricultores radica en aplicar las recomendaciones agronómicas. Esto ha llevado a bajos procesos de empoderamiento de estas. La estrategia agroecológica para la conservación y/o mejoramiento, se basa en el Manejo Ecológico de los Suelos (MES), proceso inclusivo que integras: el diagnóstico de la situación actual, la definición participativa de las estrategias pertinentes y finalmente la evaluación del impacto de estas sobre la conservación y mejoramiento. Bajo esta visión, la utilización combinada de diferentes prácticas agroecológicas pertinentes localmente y diseñadas de forma inclusiva, constituye la mejor estrategia que pronostica resultados deseados de forma sostenida.

Abstract:
Agroecosystems need to maintain adequate health to fulfill their function defined by the farmer. The management approach under which they are structured largely defines the quality of their natural resources. Since the beginning of agriculture, managers have used strategies for the protection of resources, however, the pressure of land use and the use of modern technologies, the environmental impacts have been systematically alarming. Agricultural soils constitute one of the natural resources most affected by agricultural activities. Management under the principles of technified agriculture has accelerated their degradation, causing irreversible phenomena in many of them. Strategies for conservation and improvement have been based on the use of specific technologies defined with a top-down approach, where the participation of farmers lies in applying the agronomic recommendations. This has led to low processes of empowerment of these. The agroecological strategy for conservation and/or improvement is based on the Ecological Management of Soils (MES), an inclusive process that integrates: the diagnosis of the current situation, the participatory definition of the pertinent strategies and finally the evaluation of the impact of It's about conservation and improvement. Under this vision, the combined use of different agroecological practices that are locally relevant and designed in an inclusive manner constitutes the best strategy that predicts desired results in a sustained manner.
