Abstract: In recent years, the market for intimate care products has grown exponentially, reflecting a rising awareness of the importance of maintaining a balanced genital microbiota and using formulations that respect the region's pH. Extra virgin coconut oil, widely used in food, has emerged as a multifunctional ingredient in the cosmetic sector. Rich in fatty acids, such as lauric acid, it has moisturizing, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties, making it an ideal choice for products intended for intimate care. This study aimed to evaluate the dermatological safety of the investigational product (EXTRA VIRGIN COCONUT OIL) under normal conditions of use, through dermatological acceptability assessment, and to evaluate its perceived efficacy by participants (cosmetic appreciability). The single-center clinical study, involving 31 female participants, investigated the use of coconut oil over a 30-day period. Results showed that the product is safe, causing no adverse reactions such as erythema, edema, or discomfort. Coconut oil demonstrated excellent moisturizing efficacy, contributing to the maintenance of skin barrier integrity and preventing transepidermal water loss, which is essential for the health of the skin and mucosa of the intimate region. Additionally, 87% reported that the product prevented dryness; 71% reported that it evened out skin tone; 81% reported that it improved skin tonicity; 77% reported that it balanced perspiration in the region; and 84% reported that it balanced odor production. The results also highlighted the absence of adverse reactions, confirming the safety of prolonged use of coconut oil in sensitive areas.
