OCUPAÇÃO AO LONGO DA HISTÓRIA PÓS CABRALINA DO TERRITÓRIO DE RONDÔNIA. PRIMÓRDIOS DA CONSTRUÇÃO DE SEU PATRIMÔNIO URBANO: O REAL FORTE PRÍNCIPE DA BEIRA.

A dinâmica de ocupação de Rondônia de acordo com vários autores sempre se baseou em ciclos econômicos exploratórios com um povoamento instável baseado no enriquecimento rápido e retorno às origens, contribuindo com a perpetuação da desmemória existente em relação ao patrimônio local. A presença do Real Forte Príncipe da Beira, uma das maiores obras da engenharia militar portuguesa fora de Portugal, constitui-se num marco dos primeiros processos de ocupação do território do atual estado de Rondônia. O significado desse bem patrimonial não se encontra apenas no passado, mas nas demandas por memória do presente. Esse é o nosso objeto de estudo, a reconstrução de uma memória fragmentada, de espaços divididos, de cidadãos divididos, de territórios de poder, cristalizados em um patrimônio, que tem se feito invisível no tempo.

Abstract: The dynamics of occupation of Rondônia, according to several authors, has always been based on exploratory economic cycles with an unstable population based on rapid enrichment and return to origins, contributing to the perpetuation of the existing lack of memory in relation to local heritage. The presence of the Real Forte Príncipe da Beira, one of the greatest works of Portuguese military engineering outside Portugal, constitutes a milestone in the first processes of occupation of the territory of the current state of Rondônia. The meaning of this heritage asset is not only found in the past, but in the demands for memory in the present. This is our object of study, the reconstruction of a fragmented memory, of divided spaces, of divided citizens, of territories of power, crystallized in a heritage, which has become invisible over time.
