OBSTÁCULOS QUE COMPROMETEM O PROCESSO DE ENSINO E APRENDIZAGEM NOS CURSOS DE ENGENHARIA: VISÃO DOS PROFESSORES
A preocupação com o alto índice de
evasão de alunos dos cursos de engenharia vem
se tornando alvo de discussões e pesquisas.
Muitos estudos têm apresentado a visão dos
alunos sobre o que os motivou a abandonar
seus cursos. Entretanto, poucos destacam a
visão dos professores das IES. Este trabalho
apresenta uma pesquisa qualitativa envolvendo
134 professores dos cursos de engenharia
de duas instituições particulares. Durante as
oficinas ministradas para esses professores
eles foram indagados sobre os problemas,
obstáculos e desafios que comprometem o
processo de ensino e aprendizagem identificados
por eles durante as aulas. Após categorizar os
obstáculos relatados e discutir as sugestões
apresentadas para enfrentá-los, conclui-se que
a falta de interesse, empenho,atenção aliadas
à falta de conhecimentos prévios essenciais,
falta de conhecimento sobre o curso e à falta de
integração entre as disciplinas são os fatores
que mais desmotivam os alunos e prejudicam
o desempenho dos mesmos. Para contornar
esses problemas foram sugeridas ações que
poderiam ser realizadas pelos professores
e pelas IES com a finalidade de baixar o alto
índice de evasão nos cursos de engenharia.

Abstract:
Concern about the high dropout
rate in engineering courses is becoming the
object of discussion and research. Many studies
have shown the vision of the students about
what motivated them to leave their courses.
However, just few studies highlight the vision
of engineering professors. This paper presents
a qualitative study involving 134 professors of
engineering courses at two institutions. During
the workshops the teachers were asked about
the problems, obstacles and challenges that
impairs the process of teaching and learning.
After categorizing the reported obstacles and
discuss the suggestions made by them, it is
concluded that the lack of interest, commitment,
attention coupled with the lack of essential prior
knowledge, lack of knowledge about the course
and the lack of integration between disciplines
are the factors that discourage students and
undermine their performance. To work around
these problems were suggested actions that
could be undertaken by teachers and institutions
in order to lower the high dropout rate in
engineering courses.
