Abstract: In this article, the aim is to show and to discuss a phenomenon that is socially camouflaged, the pornography habit and its relationship to addiction, mainly through the consumption of online pornographic material. It is based on testimonials found on the Internet, from people who reported being in distress situation due uncontrolled use of pornographic content. Thirty-four testimonials published on internet were analyzed and the subjects, who presented themselves as men, aged among 17 and 40 years old. The methodological approach used was the Bardin content analysis, in the perspective proposed by Roque Moraes, which led to six thematic categories: silent triggers: from the magazines to the internet; shame, guilt and masturbation; fetish and fantasy; addiction and its symptoms: the spiral of degradation; the (in) ability to love; and the calling for help. The interviewees were experiencing intense physical and mental suffering, with repercussions that interfered in their daily experiences as a result of excessive use of pornography. The data interpretation was built from the psychoanalytic theory, leading us to the proposition that the psychic economy involved in addiction with pornography had intended to minimize the feelings of displeasure and avoid situations that promote tension. It considers that the passionate search for satisfaction occurred through primitive psychic processes, resulting in self-destructive movements. Soon, pornography addiction was seen as a manifestation of a non- neurotic psychological functioning and it was recognized that the suffering caused by this addiction mode is from narcissistic order.
