O USO E ABUSO DE DROGAS NO BRASIL: ASPECTOS HISTÓRICOS, CONCEITUAIS E A DISCUSSÃO EMERGENTE ENVOLVENDO A ESPIRITUALIDADE E A RELIGIOSIDADE
A relação humana com as substâncias psicoativas (SPA) é milenar. Desde os primórdios da humanidade, tais substâncias estiveram associadas aos ritos religiosos, às práticas sociais e culturais, ao uso medicinal, aos meios de obtenção de prazer e formas de aliviar as angústias do existir, sem que necessariamente se relacionassem a problemas de saúde e sociais. Foi a partir do século XX que o consumo se tornou uma preocupação mundial, devido ao aumento do uso, comércio ilegal e danos à saúde. Na atualidade, tem-se a difusão de que as drogas são danosas em si mesmas e que trazem grande potencial de dependência e prejuízos à saúde e à sociedade. Contudo, faz-se necessário desmitificar essa construção, superando o foco apenas nos aspectos químico e biológico da questão, englobando outros importantes aspectos envolvidos no uso nocivo ou problemático de drogas, tais como suas dimensões políticas, sociais, econômicas, culturais, espirituais e religiosas. Assim como o uso das SPA acompanha a humanidade desde os seus primórdios, a sua relação com o sagrado também é milenar e faz parte a experiência humana. Neste cenário, destaca-se como a dimensão espiritual do ser humano tem ficado à margem das práticas de cuidado em saúde, como se fosse algo ilegítimo ou mesmo imaginário, ou de menor importância quando comparado ao saber científico e técnico, que se impõe como o saber legítimo, palpável e, portanto, respeitável. Este texto traz uma discussão acerca do uso de SPA no Brasil, histórico das políticas de saúde e das concepções envolvendo a temática, culminando na discussão acerca da espiritualidade e da religiosidade como dimensões dos sujeitos que devem ser consideradas pelos profissionais da saúde, na busca da garantia do cuidado integral e do direito à saúde entre os usuários de álcool e outras drogas.

Abstract:
The human relationship with psychoactive substances (PS) is millennial. Since the beginning of humanity, such substances have been associated with religious rites, social and cultural practices, medicinal use, means of obtaining pleasure and ways of alleviating the anguish of existing, without necessarily relating health and social problems. It was from the 20th century that consumption became a worldwide concern due to increased use, illegal trade and health damage. Nowadays, there is the diffusion that drugs are harmful in themselves and that they bring great potential for dependence and harm to health and society. However, it is necessary to demystify this construction, overcoming the focus only on the chemical and biological aspects of the issue, encompassing other important aspects involved in the harmful or problematic use of drugs, such as its political dimensions, economic, cultural, spiritual and religious. Just as the use of PS has been accompanying humanity since its inception, its relationship with the sacred is also millennial and human experience is part. In this scenario, it stands out how the spiritual dimension of the human being has been left on the margins of health care practices, as if it were something illegitimate or even imaginary, or of lesser importance when compared to scientific and technical knowledge, which imposes itself as knowledge legitimate, palpable and therefore respectable. This text brings a discussion about the use of PS in Brazil, a history of health policies and conceptions involving the theme, culminating in the discussion about spirituality and religiosity as dimensions of subjects that should be considered by the health professionals, in the search for the guarantee of comprehensive care and the right to health among users of alcohol and other drugs.
