Abstract: Pain is one of the most feared phenomena and one of the most frequent complaints among cancer patients, representing the most determining factor of disease-related suffering even when compared to the expectation of death. Drug management is essential for pain relief, control, and treatment. This study aims to analyze the available literature evidence on opioid use for cancer pain treatment produced in Brazil. An integrative review method was used with the descriptors: cancer pain, opioids, and Brazil, consulted in PubMed, LILACS, and MEDLINE databases. The selection resulted in 14 articles meeting the inclusion criteria. Oral morphine has been considered the first choice for moderate to intense cancer pain treatment. There are few national studies clearly demonstrating opioid use in Brazil. The management of patients with chronic cancer pain requires integrated work among all health professionals. New national studies are essential to better understand opioid use and access in Brazil.
