Abstract: Organic compounds, such as compost from plant and animal waste, manure, and humus, are rich in essential nutrients and beneficial microorganisms that help strengthen the root system, promote nutrient absorption, and increase plant resistance to disease. In addition, the use of these materials reduces dependence on chemical fertilizers, making agricultural production more sustainable and less impactful to the environment. However, knowing the suitability of these compounds for use is important. The aim of the study was to evaluate the possibility of using, pure or mixed of two organic compounds, produced in the Pelotas-RS region, in the production of lettuce and cherry tomato seedlings. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, from September to December 2023, using a Randomized Block design, with 6 treatments and 3 blocks. Based on the results obtained, it was possible to verify that each plant species responds differently and that knowing the composition of each organic compound, in order to know its suitability for use, is extremely important. The use of these compounds contributes to increased profitability in seedling production, however, choosing a compound incorrectly (without knowing it) can lead to unsatisfactory and unviable results, for the production of lettuce and cherry tomato seedlings.
