O USO DE CANNABIS SATIVA PARA TRATAMENTO DE ENDOMETRIOSE: UMA REVISÃO LITERÁRIA

• Abstract: Endometriosis is one of the major pathologies that affect the female reproductive tract, being a hormone-dependent condition caused by the presence of endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity that affects women of reproductive age, causing severe pain and in more severe cases, even leading to infertility. Therefore, treatment for this type of pathology involves administering some drugs and even surgical intervention, but some studies suggest the use of cannabis for this purpose.  Thus, the purpose of this study is to carry out a literature review on the use of cannabis in the treatment of endometriosis. To achieve this, we conducted a bibliographic survey of articles indexed in databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, Regional Portal of the Virtual Health Library, Embase, Scientific Electronic Library Online, LILACS, and SciELO. As an inclusion criterion, we used works published between 2013-2023, which were related to the terms: endometrium, Cannabis Sativa, and Women's Health. In this way, it is possible to obtain satisfactory results with articles that relate to the use of Cannabis Sativa in the treatment of endometriosis or that present Cannabis as an aid in the treatment of this condition. Thus, it is possible to understand Cannabis as an ally in relieving the intense pain caused by endometriosis and even in the treatment of endometriosis itself. Nevertheless, it is still necessary to conduct studies to understand the best route of administration of this drug and its ideal dosage for obtaining good results.
