Abstract: Occupational therapists have gained ground in primary care with the introduction of multidisciplinary teams, especially within the Family Health Strategy. However, they still face challenges in terms of recognition and understanding of their duties by other health professionals. Objective: Within the context of the Family Health Strategy, the overall objective of this study was to understand how health professionals perceive and recognize (or not) the role and duties of occupational therapists in their daily practice at a family health unit located in a municipality in the interior of the state of São Paulo. Methods: This is an exploratory study with a qualitative approach. Data collection was performed through focus groups with professionals from different health categories. The discussions were recorded and analyzed using thematic analysis, seeking to identify perceptions and meanings about the role of occupational therapists in primary care. Results: Among the results, it was observed that professionals have superficial knowledge about the role of occupational therapists and partially understand the work of eMulti. Discussion and conclusion: Thus, the research contributed to the strengthening of collaborative practices and the more effective insertion of occupational therapists in family health teams, in addition to highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary work and knowledge sharing for the promotion of comprehensive care, especially in territories that require approaches sensitive to the unique characteristics of the population.
