Abstract: This essay discusses the theory of Social Labeling (Labeling Approach) and its relationship with racial issues, in which society, using common sense, stigmatizes black individuals by imposing labels. Through bibliographical research, consisting of the use of renowned works on the subject, a systematic study was carried out, aiming to contribute to the dissemination of the debated line of understanding. Thus, providing a broader view of the topic, initially, it explains the theory of labeling and its relationship with social issues, as well as its social construction through society. Subsequently, it presents an analysis of the common sense attributed to black people who are part of everyday life in society, as well as the definition and examples of labeling, covering black women, such as black feminism. It discusses real cases in which black people were called “delinquent/criminals” or pejoratively as “homemakers”, due to these individuals having labels instilled in society. Finally, an objective demonstration was made of the influence of society and the stigmatizing factors in the Labeling Approach Theory in the search for distancing itself from common sense, labels and labels given to someone because of the color of their skin.
