Abstract: Monitoring the environmental health of aquatic ecosystems is essential, especially when dealing with reservoirs with multiple uses. Different methodologies can be employed for this assessment, with a notable emphasis on the use of bioindicators. This study aimed to analyze the environmental health of three reservoirs located in the Croatá River basin (Caatinga, Princesa Isabel – Paraíba) using benthic macroinvertebrates as bioindicators. Ten sampling sites were designated in each reservoir, where sediment samples were collected (for macroinvertebrate analysis) using an Ekman-Birge dredge. For data analysis, macroinvertebrate abundance and Fisher's diversity were calculated, along with spatial analysis (MDS) and significance analysis (univariate Permanova). The exotic mollusk, Melanoides tuberculata, dominated in all reservoirs, with the highest average diversity of bioindicators occurring only in one reservoir (Jatobá II). There was no significant difference in diversity between two reservoirs (Macapá and Cruzeiro). Through the analysis of metrics derived from the benthic macroinvertebrate community, it is concluded that only one reservoir exhibits satisfactory environmental health (Jatobá II). This underscores the need for environmental actions aimed at improving the environmental health of the studied reservoirs.
