Abstract: In recent decades, the digitalization of healthcare services has driven significant transformations in clinical practice, particularly in nursing. The Electronic Health Record (EHR) has become an essential tool for recording, organizing, and sharing clinical information, providing greater agility, traceability, and safety. This chapter presents a narrative literature review covering studies published between 2015 and 2025 on the use of EHRs in nursing practice. The findings show that adopting this technology offers benefits such as standardized documentation, improved team communication, and enhanced decision-making support. However, challenges remain concerning technological infrastructure, professional training, and resistance to change. The study concludes that, when properly implemented and supported by a strong institutional digital culture, the EHR significantly contributes to nursing care quality and patient safety, while reinforcing the recognition of the nurse’s role in patient-centered care.
