O PROJETO DE CONTROLE DAS EMOÇÕES PELO TRANSHUMANISMO: UMA ANÁLISE PELA PERSPECTIVA DO EXISTENCIALISMO DE JEAN-PAUL SARTRE
O objetivo do presente artigo é analisar, à luz da noção do existencialista Jean-Paul Sartre sobre as emoções, o imperativo hedonista e abolicionista de David Pearce. Este autor transhumanista considera que será viável a partir dos avanços da ciência, principalmente dos estudos genéticos e da biotecnologia, que cheguemos a um patamar de poder escolher nossas emoções. No entanto, para Sartre, as emoções são intrínsecas aos valores que fundamentam a escolha do projeto de ser. Controlar as emoções, portanto, seria desconsiderar a função das emoções nos atos, podendo tornar insignificante os móbeis que impulsionam a busca por ser.

Abstract:
The aim of this article is to analyze from the light of the existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre's notion of emotions, David Pearce's hedonist and abolitionist imperative. This transhumanist author believes that it will be possible, based on science's advance, especially genetic studies and biotechnology, that we reach a level where we can choose our emotions. However, for Sartre, emotions are intrinsic to the values that underlie the choice of the project of being. Controlling emotions, therefore, would be to disregard the role of emotions in actions, which could make the mobiles that drive the search for being insignificant.
