Abstract: This is research into the teaching and learning process of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Early Childhood Education. The aim of the work is to investigate, through a literature review, understanding the general aspects of ASD and the challenges of teaching practice within the scope of inclusive education. The research has a qualitative character, of a bibliographic and documentary nature, in which the main concepts of Vygotsky's theory are addressed, which underlies the Historical-Cultural Theory (THC), the theoretical reference of the work. The research is justified by the growing need for expansion of studies aimed at an inclusive society and understanding of ASD, legislation and guidelines for the teaching process. It was observed that, despite being a recurring theme, there is still a need for further studies in initial and continuing teacher training on the disorder, with the aim of promoting theoretical and methodological subsidies that encourage quality and inclusive education.
